Long time no updates, it seems.
Real life kicked in and it kicked in hard so I didn't have too much time for Warhammer.
I've turned to drinking and playing D&D though, so not all is lost.
Oh and here's a small update:
This Nurgle hero on a daemonic mount is made from a variety of bits, so feel free to leave your question in the comments if you're interested in anything specific.
The mount is "Great worm" from Reaper Bones range.

Nurgle Giant Conversion
The whole giant was made using a 2$ monster toy, some leftover Maggoth lord bits (legs, belly), Giant head and weapon bits (got a bundle on them on eBay for a really low price), a few additional small bits I had in my bits box and some putty (almost exclusively Milliput in this case).
Shorter than your average giant, but much more degenerate |
The whole project didn't require too much work and I'm quite satisfied with the way it looks.
I also have some additional bits from the giant bits bundle I picked up so I'll probably use those to make another giant, this time for my O&G and/or Beastmen army.

Nurgle Herald
I've recently made a Nurgle herald out of leftover maggoth lord Morbidex Twiceborn's body, a Nurgle blightking torso with a nurgling poking out of it and plaguebearer legs. The gaps were filled with Milliput yellow/gray.
He's not that big, but those trophies and that massive scythe should be enough set him apart from the ordinary rank and file plaguebearers.
As always, all comments are welcome!

AoW Corrupters miniature comparison & review
Here's just a small comparison between some of the models I'm using in my Nurgle army.
The core of my army consist of AoW Corrupters of Apocalypse as my Nurgle warriors and GW's Putrid Blightkings as my Chosen.
From left to right: AoW Corrupter of Apocalypse, GW Blightking, GW Maggoth lord (conversion) |
You might notice the difference in size at first glance.
This doesn't bother me that much, since I actually like the fact that my Chosen look bigger and meaner. After all, the lore says that Chosen stand one head taller than the normal warriors.
But for some people this may be problematic, since AoW Corrupters truly are a bit shorter than GW Chaos Warriors.
The first edition of AoW Corrupters was made in resin and the models were a bit bigger, but the newer retooled plastics seem to be a bit shorter. Unlike Chaos warriors, they don't have capes which give GW models that bulky effect. AoW Corrupters also come with their own bases which are a bit shorter than GW bases. All these small differences add up and make Corrupters noticeably smaller in the end.
However, placing a piece of plasticard or a cork sheet beneath the legs should make them more or less even.
AoW uses plastic material that is harder than your usual GW plastics. It also doesn't seem to react to plastic glue. The bits come in bags, already removed from the sprues.
Casting quality is good, but removing mould lines takes some time due to hard plastic which they use.
By the way, if you're thinking about getting a box of Corrupters with great weapons you should be informed that arms come in three parts: two arms and a weapon with hands sculpted on it. This gives you more freedom while posing your miniatures, but also comes with one obvious drawback: you'll have to use super glue while juggling 3 arm pieces at the same time. So be patient and expect a lot of fingers super-glued together.
Oh and once you assemble your models you'll still have some bodies, arms and weapons left, so if you're up to the task you can try and sculpt or kit-bash some legs which should provide you with at least 3 additional models.
However, the box I got was a real bargain, and it provided me with 24 warriors plus a metal hero.
The style of the models is also really good, and when mixed with some GW bits these guys make the best Nurgle warriors currently available at the market.

Nurgle Mounted Sorcerer
I've been getting a pretty good mileage out of Maggoth lord kit lately.
I think it looks pretty fluid and dynamic, with a bit of "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" touch.

Nurgle Sorcerer on foot
I've done some minor conversion work, adding a Chaos marine icon and Nurgle champion shoulder pad, as well as a trimmed-down Chaos spawn head.
It was a simple conversion, but I think that it looks pretty effective.
This whole miniature reminds me of old metal Nurgle sorcerers.
And here's a warning kids. Don't do Chaos. Not even once. 😛

Maggoth lord on a Dragon
I've had this idea for a Nurgle lord on a dragon for quite some time now...
At first, I was thinking that kit-bashing or scratch-building the model is the way to go, but then I found Nethyrmaul the Undying from the Reaper Bones range. This dragon was huge, mean, disemboweled and rotten. Exactly what I had in mind for this conversion.
I've also decided to use Maggoth lord Orghotts Daemonspew as the rider, this time with a shield and a big mace from chaos knight sprue (lengthened a bit in order to look like a great weapon).
I've already made some progress on the lord, but the dragon will probably have to wait for quite some time.

Batch painting Nurgle warriors
I'm using Avatars of War Corrupters of the Apocalypse as my Chaos warriors.
You may also notice quite a few GW bits thrown in the mix.
The Corrupters are a bit smaller than the usual GW Chaos warriors, but at least I got 24 of them along with two metal special characters for the price of one Chaos warrior box.

Chaos Lord on Palanquin of Nurgle
I've started painting my converted Nurgle palanquin lord:
I'm using GW Maggoth lords for most of my character conversions, since they seem to be almost ogre-sized when compared to regular chaos warriors. I've used Orghotts Daemonspew upper body for this conversion in particular. I've given him a Nurgle blightking torso plate (which I had to widen a bit to accommodate its bulkiness) and a pair of legs from Stormcast (Sigmarine) Lord Relictor. I've also added a besagew from a chaos warrior body to one of the pauldrons, to accentuate its size.
The lower part palanquin was built out of two full bases of nurglings and filled using some spare nurglings from the plaguebearer sprue. The pile of nurglings is supporting a platform made out of three Empire round lion shields (with lions removed) and three chaos vehicle spikes connected with plasticard. It is hard to notice from these angles, but the platform itself has a shape of a Nurgle icon.
The upper part was built out of plasticard for the most part, with some additions like chaos vehicle spikes, plaguebearer and chaos knight icons and a bell from zombie sprue.
I was also planning to add a hanging carcass on the side opposite to the bell, but that may prove to be too much clutter for this model to handle.

Nurgle BSB (WIP)
Hello people,
I'd like to start the hobby section with a small Chaos painting update.
Here's my Nurgle (Pestilence) BSB, which I assembled yesterday:
I'm very excited about Nihilakh oxide and Thyphus corrosion technical paints.
Comments and criticism are always welcome.
Cheers!
