Reaper Ghost king

Oh my, it's been a long time since my last post...
Anyways I haven't done much these last few months, except maybe this:

I've painted up my first Reaper Bones model!
It's not one of my best works, but it still provided me with some valuable insights:

First of all, I base-coated the model using a matte black spray, which is apperently something you shouldn't do when it comes to Reaper bones range. Unfortunately, it was already too late when I discovered that particular piece of information. The applied coat of spray can paint never seems to dry properly and it leaves a somewhat glossy coat of paint on your miniature.
The company's tutorial recommends applying paint straight onto the model.
I'll keep that in mind for the next time.

Secondly, because of the nature of the material, washes behave differently when applied to the miniature. They seem to pool a bit more than they do on regular hard plastic, but it's not a major issue. Just something too keep in mind so you can adjust your painting technique accordingly.

And the last thing I'd like to say is that this model was fun to paint and if you're trying to assemble a low budget army or just in need of some D&D models, I'd say that it's more than good for its price.

Nurgle Hero on a Daemonic Mount

Long time no updates, it seems.
Real life kicked in and it kicked in hard so I didn't have too much time for Warhammer.
I've turned to drinking and playing D&D though, so not all is lost.

Oh and here's a small update:

This Nurgle hero on a daemonic mount is made from a variety of bits, so feel free to leave your question in the comments if you're interested in anything specific.
The mount is "Great worm" from Reaper Bones range.

Nurgle Barbarian Chieftain

I've been thinking about converting a barbarian chief for my Nurgle army for quite some time now.
However, I've had troubles finding a suitable model which I could use as a base for my conversion.

What I had in mind was a bulky base model wearing some sort of shabby heavy armour.
Now, the main problem was that I wanted my model to be more armoured than the marauders but still less armoured and less mutated than my warriors and chosen.

So after thinking about it for a long time, I've settled for Reaper Bones Kavorgh:

Miniature painted by JeffyBaby from Reaper forums

I wanted to go for a light conversion in order to save some money and keep the flavor of the original model.
What I'd like to go for is a head swap (using Otto Glott head without the helmet) and a flagellant banner just to make the model stand out a bit more in the unit.
I decided to keep the small mutations (4 fingers, hunched pose and the chin tentacle), but I didn't want to go for pus, sores and usual Nurgly things since I somehow need to make this guy stand out. Some sort of a purplish skin tone might be just the thing I need to achieve that, as it should provide some contrast from the rest of the unit.
I also decided to keep the original weapons as I feel that the model looks more unique this way.
The other idea I had was using dual scimitars from the Blightkings set.
I might also add one of the Blightking shoulder pads on the left shoulder since I don't like the Roman-styled bits of armour hanging there.

Nurgle Sorcerer on foot

This guy here is a conversion based on Reaper Bones Friar Stone miniature:

I've done some minor conversion work, adding a Chaos marine icon and Nurgle champion shoulder pad, as well as a trimmed-down Chaos spawn head.
It was a simple conversion, but I think that it looks pretty effective.
This whole miniature reminds me of old metal Nurgle sorcerers.

And here's a warning kids. Don't do Chaos. Not even once. 😛

Maggoth lord on a Dragon

I've had this idea for a Nurgle lord on a dragon for quite some time now...
At first, I was thinking that kit-bashing or scratch-building the model is the way to go, but then I found Nethyrmaul the Undying from the Reaper Bones range. This dragon was huge, mean, disemboweled and rotten. Exactly what I had in mind for this conversion.
I've also decided to use Maggoth lord Orghotts Daemonspew as the rider, this time with a shield and a big mace from chaos knight sprue (lengthened a bit in order to look like a great weapon).
I've already made some progress on the lord, but the dragon will probably have to wait for quite some time.
